I fancy maybe giving Clacton Pier a fish one evening if anyone is up for it?
Ive never fished there before but with the amount of codling being caught by the boats just of the pier head, i recon a night tide should produce some good catches, as long as everything else is in your favour also.
So come on who fancies freezing there balls off, and blanking one evening? |

Im still trying to come up with a cunning plan
Southend pier is easy to get on off a night time without night license, just climb over the barriers, the security it so lapse is unbelievable. Btw I use to climb over and I did have a night pass but the night watchman was always asleep, so I had to find my own way on. |

I'm completely new to fishing and once I get my rod and reel today/tomorrow, I fancy giving Clacton a go. I want to try a night fish (to avoid looking like a complete nob in broad daylight) and notice the tides are high around 23:00hrs next week. The question is; can you fish off Clacton shore off the railings at high tide? I'm hopefully looking to go out week beginning 5th March. Any advice more than welcome.
Cheers
Paul |

That sounds like a really good catch guys and exceeds my expectations by a long shot.
I bought a book called a step by step guide to bait and rigs but if I can buy my rigs ready made just for the time being I'll do that. Unfortunately the book expects you to know what a leader, a trace, a snood etc. is and is full of fishing jargon but I expect when I know the basic terms I'll find it a lot simpler.
What's the ground like up there? I was thinking of using a Pennell pulley rig.
I live in Barnet. |
