Thanks once again, I’ve only recently come back in to sea fishing and I think in the passed I must have used a right handed reels and you have all said that the choice will be limited. So I will have a go with right before buying.

Wise to try before you buy - I am totally right handed with multipliers and struggle to even test lefties when I repair them for customers. Though I'm right handed myself I think the lack of choice for lefties is shameful though a LH ABU can be made into a top casting reel if that's what you are after. All the same conversion parts available for the RH models will fit the LH ones, they just go the other way round.

I've had a number of Akios reels in for service or tuning now and although the only thing Japanese about them is the name (they come from the Omoto factory in Taiwan) fundamentally if they are serviced and maintained properly there is absolutely nothing wrong with them. Also, the bulk of conversion parts for a 6500 ABU will fit the Akios reels, with the exception of custom side plates (the bar configuration is slightly different on the two makes).
