I'm hoping to be up Eastoke way Saturday afternoon and night with my son. He'll be targeting Coding - I'll probably go for something there's a chance of catching
There'll probably be a big moon but hopefully the sea will have been stirred up a bit the last day or two and at least we'll be able to see.
It sure will be cold and we'll have a stove as well though we hardly had time to use it last time due to fish action.
DAZ I hope you've got enough bait for an all night session ?

Hmm, just been checking conditions, moony will be up all night full and high but both forecasts I looked at say there should be plenty of cloud so should be alright. But if we don't get cloud cover I ain't going because that moon will kaibosh the fishing in my experience. (sorry chaps) |

No point in bothering until it gets dark unless you want to do casting practice. My neighbour tried that the other day even though I told him not to bother in daylight. What did he catch? -Sod all; now he knows that I know what I am talking about. BTW chaps, there may not be cod but there have been some fair sized doggies taken at range. |

Just got back we first fished LW a the lifeboat station without a single fish, then then the big yomp around the front to eastoke 1hr walk nearly killed me.Armed with rag, lug, squid and mackeral started to fish the tide up,moon was out in force(should of listened to eccles and was also wonderig if we did a breif encounter with legend that is eccles)the moon did cover up for a while accounting fo a few small yting(sorry sandfly whiting lol) and 1 keeper. Was slow but meet pompey Mick and see stu(alwayslearning)so good company. Will get 1 more session in before new year so lets hope the cod play ball then.

Well mate you are a tryer I'll give you that. I don't do the lifeboat station in winter, it's a summer venue as far as I am concerned - stick to the seafront in winter. Looks like a storm on Tuesday, now that could be interesting if it calms down enough afterwards. Told yer I wasn't coming out if moony was up there, ah well there's alawys another day.
I remember fishing new year about three years ago and watching all the fireworks from the beach. We didn't get a tickle until about 12.30 when suddenly a 6lb bass turned up - much better fun than getting blotto down the pub. |

Fished groyne 27 from 6:30 to 01:30 Sat first whiting came at 7pm then 5 more. Around high water had this fish (below) which came at distance on lug and squid , which I think is a Dab ... first fish of this species for us.
No pout for us I guess these came later when more cloud came.

Correct, you can always tell a dab by the pronounced curve in the lateral line in the pectoral region. All of the other flatties have more or less straight across lateral lines. |
