Hi, you dont say where you are from, but in my opinion theres no point wasting time, Cod from 3 to 12lb are being caught, very few, but they are around. so keep at it.
PS, welcome to the forum. |

I think it's maybe like the whiting - the first couple of weeks of whiting arrival, they are all too small and quite frankly a dam nuisance as we all know then they start to get bigger. In fact I was getting some off Hayling well over a pound in the run up to Christmas in 2009 and had a 7.5 lb cod in the same period.
Nothing last year but then it was serious brass monkey weather which they are promising won't happen this year! |

Not yet taken a decent one - about 8 last friday all small. Probably going to do the weekend in a deeper patch so should find one or two at range and maybe a cod. |

That's a strange place to go in winter, does it produce? - Always do my winter fishing along the front. |

"Always do my winter fishing along the front."
Hi Eccles, does this mean IotB or east of East Stoke to the harbour entrance?
Thanks,
MRAJ |

Depends on the tide and conditions. I have done all of them, Eastoke Corner area when there is a high spring tide, IOTB after there has been a southerly blow. Don't like being too close to harbour entrances - weed and current can be a problem. |

If there is a crap tide on the horizon then i would say give Gilkicker point a try. Nice access to deep water and always a chance of some decent cod or whiting . Another good place would be the cafe at Stokes Bay. Went there this time last year and had plenty of sizable whiting and a few dabs too. But the temps were a lot colder |
