Just to add to my post. Keith that looks the wrong way around on your rod devil My lights face towards the sea hence why i dont lose any in the cast winking

The shoe is tapered so you can put these lights either way without the fear of them coming adrift during the cast, but you must put the narrow end of the taper facing towards the butt.

This way you can see any rod movement from quite a distance, as you say the light faces towards you.

I put the tapered end towards the butt of the rod. So the light faces the rod tip, the light only goes in one way so when casting its impossible to fly off winking
