Fished down at Whitesands Beach, Pembrokeshire last night. Arrived down there about an hour after Low Water and thought I must be mad. There was a strong SW wind howling across the beach coupled with near horizontal rain but I set up in the car park and eventually braved it down to the water.
It was slow going to start with until the Dogfish came on the feed. After picking several of them up from the increasing surf, my rod doubled over and I struck into what I thought was going to be a cracking fish. All went quiet and I thought I had lost it so I put the rod back in the rest until it struck again. This time I could feel him on and after about 10 minutes I could see a lovely fish coming in through the surf. I landed him and got him on the scales, I had got my PB Bass of around 4lb 10oz, well chuffed!
After another hour or so of ridiculously bad rain and a few more Dogfish I called it a night and went home for a well deserved cuppa!
