Gents - looking at getting a new pair of sticks at the end of March to replace my Sonik SK3's. Budget of £200 a stick and wondering what the current recomendations are.
Always had a soft spot for Daiwas so top of the list is the Supercast - but open to other suggestions.
Cheers,
Dave |

Funny that you should mention the Greys Stu - I use 'em for carping (and love 'em to bits) but don't know what their beach rods are like ! ........ and confused by their various models.
Cheers,

It's a shame that they don't do "Prodigy" beach rods ............. they're cracking carp rods ! |

I like my Supercast so far, but then how do you compare with others unless you've fished with them a while?
I imagine any of the tried and tested models would do a decent job. |

Hi all,
I have a pair of Greys Greyflex, pair of Daiwa Supercasts and a pair of Daiwa
Sandstorms all multiplier rods.
the greyflex cast better than the sandstorms and as well as the supercasts,
bite detection is not as good with the sandstorms, but the sandstorms are
better is you need to bully a fish in roughish ground, it's a bit of a mine field
really.
I love the Daiwa Rods but do prefer my Grey's, duno if thats of any help.
Tim
Ps:- The Greys Rods have a lifetime warranty |

Having tried a few rods in the last few years (currently using Abu Hellbenders) and quite recently had a bash with above party's Daiwa Supercast, I would definitely plump for one. Tried a Greys GRX a couple of years ago and found it too stiff but then I am getting on a bit. |

you should have a look at the ian golds range, really nice rods.
the "international match" is probably the pick of the bunch and available in multi and f/s. comes in at £169 each before postage
if you like longer rods the "super match extra" is another to look at, its 14ft 10. ive got this one in F/s and cant really find a fault with it. £186 before postage |

Quite liking the sound of the Ian Golds. What shop did you get yours from redmouse ?
I can't find many places that do them - Veals have got them but not at the prices you quoted.
Cheers,

I see that Glasgow AC are offering a deal through Sea Angler website - the Greys rod plus a 7HT for around £200. Sounds quite good. |

That does sound like a good deal but I've already got 4 7HT's so I'm only after new rods.
Cheers anyway.

check this out.
http://efishsell.com/trader_store.php?storename=EastCoastTackle&eFSsid=aioatq672rnc5dc27cjo815834
if it opens as the main site click "trader stores" and then "east coast tackle". it will have the option under each item for €, £ or $.
i got mine direct from the seller himself while he was waiting for the site to come online and he was a pleasure to deal with.
not sure what the postage will be but its usually around £15-£20 for a rod/rods from the uk to ireland so expect it to be about that.
that would still make it £30-£40 cheaper than veals after delivery for a pair of premier matches |
