Hi all, this is of interest to me. Been fly fishing for 15 years or so & would love to try SFF. Haven't been SF since I was a yoof...beachcasting
I'm in North Hants so anywher Portsmouth, Hayling Southampton is easy for me.
I would really appreciate meeting up with some of you chaps to learn a bit about the area & perhaps have a chuck!
Thanks in advance

Hi Dave and Chris. We are meeting up at 12 noon on Saturday in the car park by the East Winnel Bank at the end of Ferry Road, Hayling Island.
Ideal chance for newcomers to salt water fly fishing to have a bit of tuition.
We could split up into groups Dave, looking after a few fishers each.
Fished the same place and tide 2 weeks ago and had good sport. Some decent sized Bass about too, also small shoals of Mackeral.
Hope to see you on the day.

Sounds great to me, thanks for your interest Colin. I don't have any chest waders but no worries. I'll bring a couple of rods 6-7 & 7-8 if I remember correctly, both with DT line. Only got trout flies on board but again, no worries, I want to gain a much info from you as possible.
Really looking forward to meeting you.
I have PM'ed you with my mobile number, perhaps you could do the same, if I have a problem on sat I can text you.

Ok lads, see you there....Chris I can sort you out with a fly or two, no prob's....As for waders, you will need to "wet wade" so come suitably attired....Water isn't too cold, about 17 degrees.

Not sure I'm up for that....bit too cold for me. I'll bring a change of clothes incase I change my mind, but I'll be happy looking listening & learning. Also I don't want to rush out & invest in chest waders without advice. I'm guessing breathables........anyway, look forward to meeting you on sat.

Glyn, as you well know, a family of four and their pet dog could live in my waders....
As for the girl.....At least I didn't turn up with two bitches, unlike you!
Are you gettin your fat arse out of bed Saturday and joining us?? You could show Chris how hard you are by demonstrating your wet wading technique |

Ok chaps, this wet wading malarky....
lets just suppose I was wellard,
not just a little foolish & the sun was shining...
would it be trainers, walking boots...shorts, jeans....not of course forgetting the thermal wrap if I'm lucky enough to make it back to dry land |

Hi Chris...My days of wet wading are over since I got my breathable chest waders (unless it's the hight of summer). When I used to wet wade, I wore shorts and crocks. Glyn (Lurcherman) wears shorts and crocks as he hasn't got waders, well he has, but it's a two man job for him to manoeuvre in and out of them. If you waded, I would think you could probably manage at a depth of just above knee high.
Cheers Dave |

Ok I get the idea....checked my waders earlier, they were given to me & were born in the 60's I think. I haven't used them for 10yrs or so & although they were hanging, they have completely perished along an old crease (had 20-30 puncture repairs as well!!) So that's out...........I'll just go with the flow.
See you @ 12.................I'll bring the doughnuts |
