How long can you keep mackerel in the fridge for ????

How long can you keep mackerel in the freezer for ???

A week fridge
3 months or more freezer.
I always find it best to fillet it before stoeage.

i always freeze mine as they are straight away . i always wrap them as singles . never had any problem with them . when i use them i always fillet them frozen as find easier . happy

It's how they are kept before they reach the fridge or freezer that counts....if the mackerel has been in the hot sun for hours it's not even worth putting in the fridge or freezer.

take a cool box with half a dozen blocks with you if you are after mackerel.

Must be kept cool as does all fish. We fillet before going home and store in a cool box.We prefer to dry the fillets before smoking and storing. Kept in small plastic cotainers [4 for 99p poundstretchers] they aer good for 2 to 3 weeks.To freeze small plastic bags are fine, enough for a good breakfast and will keep ok for a couple of months, [i think that afte that they start to lose flavour.
