hiya to all,
just thought that i would share our fishing results with you from chesil beach at west bay tonight 04-01-07....... and caught nil!!!!!!!
the conditions where choppy but not to rough with a good high tide at 1905
we fished from 1500 untill 2100 and used 2 hook flapper rigs but with no result un fortunately
bites where hard to detect due to the choppy sea and the rod tips going bezerk with the current but all in all was still a good night out |

A bad days fishing is better than a good day at work! I really must get down to Chesil and have a go. The last time I was there was on a geography field trip when I was at school and we measured and mapped the inlines of the beach-snore! Whats the bass fishing like in the summer? |

bad day fishing but it was still a very enjoyable evening trying and to tell the truth we where not even that cold which was suprising, due to all the rain we havnt been out lately (soft) so was good to get the hooks wet for a few hours |

we where contimplating buying a stove etc as it would obviously provide good hot drinks all night however didnt fancy carrying yet more kit up over chesil bank!!!
not so bad at west bay or west bexington but near portland the chesil bank is a killer to climb with the kit that we take already let alone carrying more kit and extra water!!!!!
between 2 of us we already carry
taclkle box
shelter
rods
stands
day sack
bucket and more ................
i love my hot drinks on a cold night but not as much as a cold beer on getting home lol |

Get yourself a coleman sportster. It'll burn coleman fuel or unleaded (much cheaper - 85p a litre opposed to £4.99 a half litre) and at Orford we were making tea for three and a litre and a half lasted all night with some to spare. Get a copper bottomed whistling kettle and it will boil in about 6 minutes. The other advantage is that you can have hot food too. They don't weigh much and I wouldn't do without now. |

that sounds good and will look into it
hot food and drink is of the essence of a cold night, learnt that well in the army and is very true
thanks |

when i go chesil next i will add a post saying where fishing a few days in advance if possible and weather depending
tend to fish there mostly as it is the deeper water and most productive (sometimes)
not paticulary keen on pier fishing even though weymough and west bay have good piers but we do fish piers when the weather is bad as the one in weymouth (the pleasure pier not nothe) has shelter from rain and wind, fishing there is better than not fishing at all
I have tried bottom fishing a few times from weymouth's pleasure pier using a flapper rig but to no avail, my good wife caught some nice sized garfish there using a float at the end of the summer. |
