Bought loads of gear from e-bay.
I bought a Daiwa Longbeam LB1603FS from a guy off e-bay and it was absolutely perfect - cost 60 quid instead of 140 brand new.
Tip is - always read the feedback and make sure they are in the UK. Also, might be an idea to make sure your credit card is insured just in case.
I've bought stacks off e-bay and never had a problem, and also lots from on-line stores such as Gerrys - highly recommended by the way.
Let us know how you get on .... |

Got me an Okuma Pro 365 reel on ebay earlier this year - £17 vs usual price of £25 - £30, well pleased as it is quite a classy budget reel. Also recently bought 300 hooks for about £12, will keep me going for a bit. My advice is similar to others - make sure the seller is pukka - the feedback will usually tell you this and if you are not sure of the goods, ask a couple of questions. A good ebayer will always come back to you fairly quickly with good answers because they want the business. Only made one duff purchase in the last few years - bought what was supposed to be a carbon rod from some german git and when it arrived it was "composite". Even so, it was a pretty good rod for £17 and would have cost about £30 in a UK tackle shop. I suppose I should have had nore sense than expect a full carbon beach rod for that price. |

My sister in law got caught on Ebay. It looked like the guy was selling an electronic game, but the way he worded it, it turned out that he was only selling the cardboard box it came in, which is what she received. She managed to get a bit of cash back from him, but not much. She had checked his feedback and it was excellent. PayPal were worse than useless and no help whatsoever. I've only bought a couple of things through Ebay, one of which was a small ABU baitcaster which I use on a very light rod for a bit of fun. |

Never had any major problems with either paypal or ebay and I buy and sell. It's like everything else in life - read the small print carefully! Perhaps I'm lucky as I seem to have a nose for a dodgy deal and it helps that I buy things for a living (or spend other people's money for them, depending on your outlook). I'm of the opinion that most people you come accross in life are fundamentally honest and things are only spoilt by the odd numpty or conman. |
