Just read a new monthly swff column in this months Fly Fishing & Fly Tying magazine, written by some Scottish geezer.
Good to see one of the fly mags putting salt water fly fishing in the spotlight. About time too!!! winking

Should be on the shelves of most newsagents but probably not Tesco/Asda.

Got hold of a copy, very good Colin, keep it up.

There certainly isn't enough Saltwater Fly Fishing featured in the mags which is a shame, personally I don't usually buy the Trout and Salmon mags for that reason, 3 quid plus is a lot for one article. ( not that I'm saying you're not worth it Colin ! the mag's fault's not yours winking ).

Generally heavier, 8 or 9 wt, and preferably corrosion-resistant reels. But you could use reservoir kit at a pinch.

Fresh water tackle is fine for starting off, just give it a good rinse off under the tap soon as you get home.
90% of my fishing is done with a 7wt but a 6wt would be more than ample for the UK.
Good luck.

The question is, will col want to associate with us mere mortals now he is a published author?
Read the article and subscribed to the mag for the next 12 months. Brilliant piece of writing imho. Glad it's not technical info stuff. I thoroughly enjoyed the gentle style and the way i was transported into the action ( or lack of it at the creek!!!). I believe as Colin hones his skills he has the potential to be a great contributor to FF&FT magazine. You can put the cheque in the post Col!

Nice one Colin,
Got the mag today and really enjoyed your article. That fish looks an awful lot like the one (only one) I caught last year (you haven't been cutting and pasting have you?) laughing

Look forward to the next article. Rich

Thanks Rich. If I remember correctly, your Mullet had a large gold spot on its cheek winking
Sad news about the oil slick affecting HillHead through to Warsash. Hope the wild life isn't affected too badly.
