Last Sunday 28 or 29 of june,2 of us fished clyde system for 5 hours 2 hrs up and 3 hrs down the tide at Greenock quay, standard gear set of silver shrimp and 4 ozs of lead there where perhaps 20 other people fishing some effectively some not and saw only one mackeral caught in that time to a single krill on a light spinnintg rod. Hope this helps.

We had a day like that last year three of us took over 200 in one day but would recommend Loch Fyne only 20mins up the road and you have a chance of catching something other than maccys! |

HI Gibberoo,
This only my second season sea fishing [i have fished fresh water for the last 55 years] so i am still open to advice as where to fish for other types and what to use for bait.I have a 20ft cruiser moored at Roseneith so 2 hours sailing in any direction would hopefully be get me to an area to be able to try something different. RETIRMENT is a wonderful thing and it keeps me out of the way of SHE who has to be obeyed?. john. |

John,
I am sinilar to yourself been a freshwater fisherman since I could and but unfortunatley I am only half the retirement age so still a few years to go before I get my boat! Sea fishing can be enjoyable as long as you find the right place I think and Its a great way to get away from the boss for a few hours! we were fishing at Furnace on Saturday just passed Inverary there Is a quarry and there a few boats in this area all catching fish aswell maybe worth a try.
Cheers

Hi Andy,
Was on the Gairloch last saturday and caught lots of macks. Going again this Wed. and saturday.Went a bit loopy last week, got another boat with a 35hp merxury on the back. Had it running this morning. Will spend some time sanding and painting boat and trailor . Take it up to Gairloch for a test run, if OK will probably try to sell. Us pensioners need the price of a pint from time to time.
Regards John. |
