Looks similar to the old Mitchell 624 boat reel in construction but wrong colour. Not sure but I suspect that it is an early electric retrieve on the right of it. very unusual.

is that a ratchet on the side, ie you se a back forth motion to wind it in rather than turn a conventional handle?

is it an electric reel that the rod slides onto rather than the reel fixing to the rod as it appears not to have any reel seat or normal handle so to speak

if the rod fits into it, then does the line pass up inside the rod?

Your thinking on the same lines as me GSM, I cant see a reel seat, or winding handle, but i see what looks like a fixing for the rod to go into, and also a small tube at the bottom of the reel, this looks like a line feed, possibly to feed the line into an ariel rod. confused

Okay I'll put you out of your misery .... I think you are pretty much there anyway big grin

rabbi is really on the ball because yes its a Penn 6/0 senator ... but with a difference!

It has an electric add on - a wisenhunt electric motor attachment. the idea is that you can use it the conventional way in manual but when you get cream crackered you just switch on the motor and bob is your cousins brother-in-law. Although you can use a similar system on a conventional rod for big game fishing (the picture maybe is a bit misleading it does have a reel seat) the difference with this one is that its designed for Kite Fishing. Better info from the link.
