Hi, what a great weekend away we had, so much happened its hard to remember it all in order. Friday morning, Plank and his son neil picked me up, and we were off by 09.45am, on the way i was sure we would catch up to rabbi2 towing his caravan. Sure enough we had just got on the A55 and there he was, standing by a grub stall waiting to order his sarnie. We sounded the horn and waved, but no joy, he was oblivious to us. A few miles further on we pulled into the next layby, got ourselves a cuppa etc, and waited for keith to come past, about 15 mins later we saw him approaching, practically standing in the road we waved but keith just sailed past without seeing us. We finished our tea, and set off after him, when we caught him we drew alongside, sounded the horn, waved, and he still did'nt see us. it was unbelievable, if the window had been open i could have reached over and slapped him we were so close. we pulled in front, i waved again, and still he missed us. I gave up at that point. we decided to lead the way, and let keith follow, on arrival i noticed his wheels were squeaking, he parked the caravan, and there was a burning smell coming from the wheels, he had driven from Blackburn to Holyhead with the handbrake half on. needless to say i never let him live it down. the afternoon was spent setting up, having done that we just relaxed for the evening. This was the start of keith taking so much mickey taking for various reasons, we were peeing ourselves laughing most of the night. Saturday, we were holding the comp, first it was a trip to Winnies worms, they had kindly donated 2 spinning rods, and reels, which were handed over to keith. After this short stop it was off to the breakwater, the comp went well, I caught a 56cm doggie in the first 20 mins, but nothing after that, except a wrasse on my spin rod which did'nt count. The winner at the end was Paul with 166cm overall score, 2nd, Gizz with 159 3rd, me, with 56cm, the junior was won by Dean, with 35cm, all in all it was a very enjoyable day, and total raised from the comp was £76.00 of that £46.00 was handed over personally by myself n Rabbi2, receipt will be posted to keith, £20 was raised in the RNLI raffle by Orion, and a further £10.00 to be sent off by me and receipt posted to keith again. The rest of the weekend was great, the weather though cold at night was good in the day. I will let the others tell their tales, I'm looking forward to the next time. I think all those who attended had a good time, and it was nice meeting them all again. Cheers..Mick
Keith receiving the rod combo's from Winnies worms.
My doggie, 56cm
Neils Spider crab, I believe hes joining the forum as, Godsgift. (to spider crabs )
Pics show the comp in progress, so many doggies were caught it was pointless showing them all. I would just like to add a great big thanks to, Winnies worms for the prizes, Rabbi2 for putting up with me taking the mickey all weekend, Plank, for picking me up, and everyone else, for a great laugh all weekend. Cheers..Mick |

I forgot to mention, we were chatting to the peeps in the motorhome next to us before we set off home, keith had gone to get his Salt travel rod to show the guy, while he was gone, the guys wife was talking to me and thought keith was my DAD. That really made my day. either i look younger than i am, or keiths in need of plastic surgery. |

To be honest he didnt, so i told him the owner of the site had come looking for him while he was at the loo, his face was a picture when i said she had left a note on his handbrake. |
