Tried reel seats and i found them to fat in the hand, i used to use coasters but found they can break after a while but never had them slip .
I now use the penn talons instead, They are designed to replace conventional coasters. This simple device slides onto the blank and by tightening the thumbscrew the 2 stainless steel wires grip the blank. Unlike conventional reel seats the Talon allows the blank to flex to generate maximum power.

Suitable for rod blanks 21mm - 28mm diameter.

- Stainless steel components
- Removable Trigger
- Fits most common butt diameters
- Easy to reposition on the rod
- Lightweight

only downside is the price....

I would be a bit carefull with the thumbscrew and not overdo it when tightening it up, due to most rod blanks only having thin walls, incase you crack the rod.
Other than that they look quite good, and might be tempted to have a close look at one myself confused

Tread carefully with the talon ... they have a very chequered reputation. I think cracked butts are rare but they do tend to design in uneven stress on the rod. I have heard of (though not seen tbh) reels ending up on the deck.

One point, don't believe all the hype ... I doubt even Big Danny would notice a reduction in distance due to fitting a conventional reel seat and in any case the butts of most rods these days hardly move, so that little gem is up there with the pixies big grin
