Simon,

Had a look at HH yesterday - river seems to have changed course but some good looking shingle banks have appeared. Again lots of sea birds including (according to the twitchers) a Great Northern Diver..... (a free sparse clouser for the best response to this!!) Not a sign of a fish but still too cold isn't it? Surely a Great Northern Diver is to be found in the Man united team? |

A Great Northern Diver differs from a Great Southern Diver in that it is more pale in appearance and sports a pronounced beer belly. When visiting southern shores, the Great Northern Diver is easily distinguished from its southern relative by the presence of a knotted handkerchief in preference to fashionable shades.
Plumage consists of a string vest arrangement, which can give rise to interesting tan lines during spells of sunny weather.
The GND exists soley on a diet of fish...... and chips.
Distribution: The north, southern coastal resorts and Benidorm.
The GND is closely related to the Great Scottish Diver but tends to be more steady on its feet.

The Great Scottish Diver lives on battered Mars bars washed down with copious amounts of Iron Brew and Mcewans, which it regurgitates with great gusto for its young on returning (bladdered) from the pub. |

OK - competition is now closed - the award goes to ........ MULLETFLY! as usual the eloquence that streams from his quill is in a class of it's own (and any way he doesn't need any sparse clousers cos he tied enough for all of us this season so I don't have to send him one)- in it? Thank you for all your contributions - good to see that despite everything the synapses are still working - well with most of you anyway. Rich
