First of all does anyone use them and if so how?
I have my own uses for them in some of my rigs, but I never see them mentioned on here.
Cheers

hi keith, i use them all the time on my boat rigs as you know traces spin like hell in deep water so they stop line tangles

Not for power casting .... lethal things! Short range and baot work fine but for casting the only safe 3 way component I ever came across was the Paul Kerry links, the ones with a swivel rotating on a Stainless Steel body. |

i have one 3 way swivel, got it off a rig i pulled in(lucky me),it been sat in my rig making kit for absolute months all on its own, cant think of how to effectively use it,so it'll probably sit there til the end of time lol.when i was younger (dont go there) they were used all the time, but rarely see them now.i think they were used instead of the "crimp and swivel" system that most of us use nowadays.

I have about 100 of them and the only use that I have come up with for them is to fasten them to my main line with a long flowing trace and my weight attached to the eye that sticks out when boat fishing, also ideal for using for attaching a rotten bottom

I use the breakaway swivel T's (do the same job as 3 way swivels ) on my bomber rigs and with a little silicon tubing they reduce tangles and can be cast with no problems. 3 way swivels require more knots and therefore more weak links so I wouldn't recommend anyone try to power cast with them. |

Keith, I use Varivas three-way swivels to make Wrasse rigs, Simple pettenosters. Tie the swivel to the mainline, short hook length off the T and three or for feet of weak link to a lead. No real casting is needed so no problems, an easy and cheap wrasse rig that doesnt tangle. |
