hi guys and gals, right here goes,as moderator from time to time i will edit posts etc. within accordance with how i interpret the forum rules,it is never intended to represent a personal attack on anybody, and its not something i do lightly (infact i struggle with the decision),what i have been trying to do is set a standard and it may seem harsh (i agree) im all for freedom of speech and healthy debate. unfortunaletly i dont have a set of policies and procedures to follow.

so heres the thing,i future instead of myself editing a post i will ask the postee to edit it themselves (i will give a reason why i think it should be edited) and take it from there.i will only delete/edit a post if its totally offensive (i mean right of the scale). and i will endeavour to be more lax in future.sometimes i will read a post and not have a problem with it personally i have to react as to how somebody else may feel.im sure we can all work together, because i believe we all have a great little forum on the east coast with many friendships building up. big hug big hug big hug big hug big hug

Thanks people

Andy1i

Hi Andy mate, being a mod for some time I can only speak for myself. When you take on the job as mod we have to realise the amount of trust Mrix puts into the decision and at the same time when agreeing to take up the position realise that we won't win any popularity contest. As a mater of fact I have lost quite a few fishing buddies due to the fact that I have edited or deleted a post of theirs.

Most members on here have come to respect my decision as I will always pm the postee concerned before I take action and will leave the post in place for a short time so as to give the postee time to amend the post.

There are times when unsure of what action to take I will pm another mod and vise versa for advice and if the post is well over the top I will pm mrix for more sever action to be applied.

I try to get on with ALL members but there are times when I'm doing a war dance so to speak, as contrary to popular belief I am only human and do have failings like the rest of you lot big grin big grin devil devil devil
Cheers

Just a little niggle, most members view captial letters as a form of shouting and is to be avoided whenever possible.

I think it's more than just a little unfair that people can't respect the dificulties faced by members that take on volutry positions such as both of you have. sad If members were a little more sensitive to the needs and wishes of others, and respected the rules then their posts would not need to be edited or worse. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!! cool cool

I agree with weedy. There should be no need to use agressive, insulting or offensive language, especially as we occasionally have lady visitors and young folk who we should set a good example to. Would you ever march up to a gent on the beach and begin effing and blinding about his gear or techniques? I suspect not, so why do it on the forum just because you can (or can't if rabbi2 is on duty LOL). I know that we all disagree sometimes in which case, simply say so and walk away; it is the best way to avoid and painful altercations.

It's nice that most members appreciate the job we do as it makes it so much worthwhile.

God knows when I first took up the position but I know it was on the Northwest forum as that forum had only just come into being.

Thanks lads for the support that you have given to all the mods big hug big hug

think its worth saying I've only been on here a month but havent noticed any effin or blinding from anyone- in fact the site seems very quiet and placid.
