hi all, myself and trickyrickie arranged to meet up on the lowestoft north beach for friday 19th feb '10,for an allnighter atleast.

got down to an empty beach (fantastic whew! ),means we could set up in my favourite bay,bit of a haul with trickies gear though (think he was planning on staying a week lol),so after an hour of getting setup and chin-wagging,we plopped our gear into the briny and set about the hunt,i started with 3 hook flapper and a pulley pennel rig at range, available baits were the usual suspects squid frozen blacks and some "scrap" lug i got from a tackle shop (gratis),i think tricky was using pretty much the same tactics,so we both loaded up with the scrap, shame not to use it, tide was running quite hard and the weed was a pain, then i noticed my line had totally run with the tide and i knew i had tangled with tricky crying so we set about sorting that dilemna out until right at the end of sorting tricky shouts out the something in the water on my gear (thinking weed) nope !!! a cracking 3lb codling has graced us

yeah it looks like ive shrunk lol (i could have said the fish was huge though lol)

so with the excitement we got into some serious whoop whooping and high fiving rolling on the floor .so the serious stuff was brought into play, but with not much success, tricky had a small dab, tiny whiting and a pouting,i had a good size dab 3/4lb.

gear loss was funny though,i thought i would try out abit of fancy casting only to wrap everything around a groyne (i got it back at low water lol),tricky hit a rare snag and we both had a set of gear unclip itself from the shock on impact with the briny.

had a great time and a good laugh,we called it a day on the saturday afternoon as there was just no action at all.so i wouldnt say spring run is in full swing, but its on its way i think

all the best

Andy1i

ps sorry tricky if ive missed anything out

well done fella's nice to even see just 1 show it's face for the dinner table, hopefully it could be the sign of things to change but we can all only hope and having a rod in the water is the only way of tellin.

you aint wrong there edwards, but personally i wouldnt get too excited just yet. mind you if a certain magazine is anything to go by those coddies are everywhere rolling on the floor .

although i did fail to mention in the report about a long liner that tricky and i spoke to,they put out 300 hooks for one cod!! it was a beauty though roughly 20-25lb (not worth the diesel they said)

all the best

Andy

andy
the fact that you caught a cod is great news considering the reports of naff all about on the east / thames forums for the last 2 months.
lets hope a few of his relatives visit walton for my trip there on friday
