While fishing last week, i had a 3 hook clip down rig on each rod, 1 using chunks of sandeel and 1 using squid strips.
I continuosly caught whiting on the squid and not on sandeel,
so does this mean whiting prefer some fish to others because i always thought they ate anything?

They will take squid and sometimes mackerel but the number one bait in my experience is lug worm. I had a great whiting session about a week ago, was taking a fish about every 15 minutes - they nearly all took the lug even though the other hook on the rig had quite fat mackerel strips ont.

The man in my tackle shop told me that the smaller fish will take worms and the bigger whiting will prefer fish baits, but i never found any conclusive evidence of this in a session.

Whiting will take pretty much most bait. But lug, rag, macky, squid are the best I know of that have produced most for me.
