My setup from reel to trace is as follows:-

15lb Daiwa Tournament Main Line (Yellow)
60lb Greased Weasel Leader (Orange) - the best leader in my opinion.
40lb Amnesia Main Rig Body (Black/Clear)
25lb Amnesia Hook Snoods (Clear)

I use this for all locations around the East Coast and it is fine, never had the need to match Main Rig Body to Leader in over 20 years, saying that never used a Shock Leader till this year when learnt to OTG cast as always fished straight through with 20-30lb Main Line.

Tapered leaders are good, bit pricey as you only get normally five on a spool but are ideal for F/S and L/W reels.

If i set a cast away (pendulum) with your set up mate ya rig would seperate from ya leader, as it would be taking the impact of the cast, and yes i have snapped 40lb line on a cast, thats when i was fishing 40lb straight through, BUT i was fishing by myself with no one around that could get hurt by a flying sinker

I moved upto the Pendulum cast a few months ago with the same set up and not had any issues whatsoever, maybe it's in the action?

What 60lb line do you use for your Main Rig body?

If Amnesia made a 60lb line then I would probably use that but they don't sad

the difference could be the power in the pendulum mate, as you say you have only been doing it a few months, i have been doing it for at least 10 yrs, i have also snapped tips off some good rods whilst penduluming.
The 60lb line i use is berkeley big game, you are correct about the amnesia, i carry it for when i got to make 2 and 3 hook flappers for flatties, or if i am beach fishing where distance is not an issue then i can make simple rigs up like cascade or wishbones

I use sakuma 60lb rig body for a shockleader, and take a spool of tapered shockleader.if i loose end gear when out i will use tapered for quickness tying at night.I have left a use full link if it works.
Also my rig body is the same as my shockleader

Black or Red Ice is a very poor quality line, tried it but it just kept snapping under any stress so switched back to Daiwa mono lines again.

Shockleader is desinged differently to normal line so although may suffice it will not be as good and would suggest using the Greased Weasel as soon as possible.

I use the Zebco 28lb mainline and its tough stuff! Great for distance casting as you can get alot of the line onto one spool.

if ya wanting distance mate why not use 10lb mainline and ya 60lb shockleader, that will add distance to your cast
