Hi Fellow scottish anglers

I have a fishing match in the Dundee area fishing the Tay -

Advice on likely quarry, baits and rigs would be very helpful and appreciated.

Best wishes

Surprised that no-one has posted any info on this page as it is usually brimming with advice for fellow anglers.

Just to confirm that the match will be on riverside drive in Dundee and would like a "heads up" on bait please.

Have been advised that it usually fishes with 2 up and 1 down rigs unless fishing up to the wall when a 3 hook flowing trace will fish better.

Any info confirming bait would be much appreciated.

I fish the river fairly often throughout the year, and generally use a variety of Paternosters, main issue is with crabs, so have floating beads on at least some of your leaders.
Baits vary, but blacklug is best, sometimes with a wee tip of mackerel helps.
Crabs are another favourite, but more expensive/harder to get than lug.

Best of luck.

Thanks for the info fraid I missed seeing this till tonight.

Fished the match last Saturday in that howling breeze blowing down the river.

We fished along Tesco towards the railway bridge.

I measured in 13 fish and had another 11 undersize. I finished 2nd overall with 310 cms another colleague from Blackpool Steve Ball fishing in another team won with 470cms.

Fished with peeler/blow lug and tipped with mackeral using flappers 2 up 1 down.

Most fish caught were codling/flounder and eels. It was a measure and return with all fish 18cms counting except all eels counted as 40 cms.

Best flounder was 30 cms best codling 35cms.

27 fished the match with only 3 blanking.
