Hi. I normally post on the South and South East forums but, as I'm off to the IOW for a couple of weeks fishing in Sept and fancy digging out the 8/9 weight rod, floating line and my so far unused clouser minnows etc, I thought I'd see what advice any of you might have for potential IOW marks. Many of you seem local(ish) to the Solent (based upon your posting names/locations) so I hope you can help out. The IOW site seems to be pretty sparsely attended, I'm afraid, so I'm not anticipating too much help there. Cheers in advance. Kev |

Hi Kev, locations worth trying are Thorness Bay, Bembridge, Brook and sandown and shanklin, these are the easy access locations and normally hold fish, you just have to find them, but there are usually fish present on most tides. If the wind is s/w then the solent beaches are best, if the wind drops to nothing or blows from the east or north then get out the English channel side of the island for the chance of a real biggie! Hope that helps.
Chris. |

Chris. Again, many thanks for the suggestions. I'm going to be based at St Helens, so Bembridge will be very convenient. Let's hope I have something good to report in due course. Cheers. Kev |
