Hi guys, to top of a ad trip to Sandy POint recently where the weed may fishing impossible I also somehow managed to split the joint part of the top section of my Century CCC LD.
I have no idea how I managed it, Just went to cast out and the top section went flying of. When I had a look I noticed that the section had a 2inch split in it.
I was just wondering if anyone has experienced the customer service of Century with respect to Rod repairs. Are they interested in repairs? Are they reasonable in price?
I'm tempted just to try to cut away the damged section as there is still a bit spare, but before I go storming in like a bull in a china shop, I thought I should investigate giving it back to the people sho know what their doing.
Thanks guys. |

Your last sentence gets it right-Dont cut the spigot. Contact Century or the shop you bought the rod from before you do anything. How old is the rod? did you buy it from new and send off the warranty etc etc- I've personally always had good service from Century- I'm sure they'll be able to repair or replace though it sounds like you didnt have the spigot pushed in far enough as tip sections shouldnt go flying off on a cast- ( i've always found century spigots a tight fit)- so it might well be a repair they charge for.
If you dont like their price there are rod builders around who will do a good job of fixing it. I can M you the details of one if you like but it'll involve posting your rod. |

Following Carol99 kind response, I guess I should have included this infon before. The rod was not purchased new via a shop...... it was a second hand purchase.
Having said this I'm almost 100% sure that the spigot was in great order when I looked it over before purchase. I think Carol99 was spot on when implying that I may not have had it pushed in far enough. It really is a very tight fit, and hass quite a bit of the spigot left exposed. Having never before owned such a quality rod before I'm not sure if there was any thing that needed to be done to prepare the spigot first or if they are straight out the bags and ready to cast and are just very very tight with plenty of left over spigot....?
I emailed Century yesterday, not yet had a response. Will leave it a another 24hrs before chasing response. Anyone have any contact names/tel numbers for Century that I would be best placed to speak with? |

and the contact link for Stan Massey of Alba Rods. If anyone can fix it he can: he returns his emails very quickly - alternatively give him a bell- very nice bloke even if he is Scottish lol.
