have just spent 4 days at selsey and to say the weed is bad is probably a bit of an understatement, monday nilght was almost unfishable, tuesday I did manage to get about 4hrs fishing although at times it was hard going but did manage 2 smuts both around the 9lb mark and wednesday again unfishable. I dont think the almost gale force SW winds are helping.
Anyway fed up with battling weed on the west beach at selsey I thought I would try pagham well what a contrast, the sea was calm still sw winds but pagham is a little more sheltered so fishin was real comfy.Things started of a bit slow but as the tide got into full flow so did the pout 3 in quick time, then the suprise a 12ib 3ox thornie and several knoks from others which didn't really develop, this was then followed by a 2lb+ bass a tiny smut and then one of around 3lb,an eel and 2 more pout. Am I glad I went there that night. All fish fell to rag and squid except the thornie which came on a large mackie squid cocktail on a 4/0 pulley pennel rig.
I wouldn't recommend selsey at present until these high winds die or we get some strong northerlies to push that damn weed away.

Hi mate,
what a good report and a nice thornie! I fished a comp there a few weeks back and we had no rods in for about 3HRs of the comp because of the weed!!
Tight lines mate
