Hi all,
Thinking of having a go down at Shoreham/widewater this coming Saturday - day tide.
What's coming up at the moment, any black bream, flatties, bass etc.
I expect it's a bit early for the annual run of gold spot mullet on red rag!
Any Mackerel around, and has anyone tried lures down at Shoreham with any success on the beach, arm or river.

Any info' greatly appreciated lads.

Tight lines,

Busadon happy happy

A couple of weeks ago there were a lot of sole being taken with rag, a few bream and pouting, plus a couple of bass with squid or mackrel.

Lot of weed around last weekend too.

We had a couple of golden greys on rag at the western arm in the last week of June (see my end of June post in the South section) and there were a few bream and flatties as well as plenty of schoolies (but no keepers). It will depend on water clarity as to whether there are any mackerel around - had a few but not loads. Not seen a garfish yet this year - very odd! Kev

Thanks for the info' lads, like you say, very odd that garfish haven't shown yet! and did all the sole come on a night tide as usual?
If their's a lot of weed beached and the flies have got to it i expect the mullet will be running along the beach as the tide rises cleaning up the maggots that get washed out of the weed! a couple of years back i bagged up with a load of goldies on red rag fished only about twenty yards out with a simple running ledger and very light tackle, you could see mullet dorsal fins breaking the surface as they foraged around close in, realy exciting fishing!

I'll give it a go anyway, if the weeds too bad i might try in the harbour or further up the river, you never know!

Lets hope we all have some luck the weekend .

Thanks all,
Busadon. big hug big hug
