HI everyone. I live in Chichester. Just started Freshwater Fly Fishing a few weeks back and love that. Being that theres sea everywhere very close by I thought I would give SWFF a crack too.
I am sorting out a cheap 9' 7/8wt rod and ordering a cortland line which comes with a free graphite reel and backing. Leader of 8/10lbs. I am in the process of sorting out some fluff to chuck.
I am not intending to buy waders at this point in case I decide not to fully go the path and I don't need them for FFF. Do you think that will be a big issue?
I intend to fish from say Pagham to Hayling when I find some spots. I spend a lot of time near Herne Bay in Kent and so would want to fish around there too. If anyone knows of any spots say between Herne Bay to the Reculver I would be grateful to know. This way I get to have time with the GF and do a spot of fishing .
If anyone fancies a newbie tagging along once I get the gear I would be grateful for that too. I cast about 25-30 yards on a 5/6wt set up but do not know how to double haul yet. Lots more practice needed though, which is another reason for the sea element. Cheaper to practice in the sea than on a ticketed water as far as I can see.
And a quick thanks to Daft_Wader for telling me about this forum
Cheers and Hi

Hi and welcome.
Wet wading is fine this time of year, pair of shorts and some cheap shoes.
Its summer c'mon jump in!!
On a good summers day its great in shorts but realisticly you want waders.
Cant give you any info on Herne bay but around this area check out the marks at low tide, read books, ask questions.
You'll love it when you pull out a fish from that vast ocean.
Good luck

Glad you made it!
Bassfly's comments are bang on the money.
Just don't, under any circumstances buy his waders from him if he offers. You won't get that Jalfrezi/Stella combo with anything less than napalm! |
