Hi everyone, new to the fluff chucking and only really played about with it so far at work, was wandering if anyone had fished pilsey sand at all, know a lot of you concentrate on hayling and its just across the way looks like some nice sand bars to wade around in, just a bit of a walk to get there any thoughts?

Hi Steve,
Im not sure if the public can get access to Pilsey island as i think its all part of MOD stuff linked to thorney island.I might be wrong though.
I drifted over the kelp beds a few weeks back but to be honest i didnt know what i was doing as i have always fished from the shore.
I think its quite a good spot that no doubt we will all venture into throughout the season.
Cheers
Simon

possibly get a bite a work (chi marina) winking , theres access to thorney island a foot path all the way around it about 45 min walk to the end, I'll have to find out about push bike access, how far would you all say the average cast is I guess I can punch about 10-12 yrds at the moment

Hi, casting distance is a bit like the one that got away, its hard to judge a distance without a marker, but i would say the average ive witnessed from most people is around 80yds. which includes me. Cheers..Mick

I found this.....Pilsey Island

Pilsey Island is off the south end of Thorney Island. It can only be reached by boat. It has a sandy beach, backed by an area of shingle, and an area of salt marsh.
In the past
Wooden posts between Pilsey Island and Cobnor Point mark the attempt in the 19th century to reclaim some land from the sea.

It is leased by the RSPB

See the 'Casting Experiment' I did earlier in the year for distances. Of course, now that bassfly and myself have had expert tuition from Mraj you can now add another 10yds to those distances. Still not quite up to 80yds though! Must breed em tough up in Bradford. Having said that, MM doesn't look the most masculine guy in his photo but anyone who can cast close to 100m ias fine by me.
