Hi Pat. I've fished Sandy point a few times but blanked each time except one day in September, 2 years ago, when I got lucky and a shoal of Macs kept swimming up and down the shore. Great sport but never repeated. The tide as it goes through the mouth into the harbour is vicious and same as she drains out again. I'm sure young bassfly will be able to give sound advice as to best tide times. Tight lines. CC

At low tide you can wade out onto the shingle bank where the sea eventually pours over.As you walk out the water is shallow on your right hand side and on the left it drops off dramatically.3 steps and your upto your neck.
Go in pairs or be very careful and acheck your retreat too.
You can wade out about 1/4 of a mile here.In theory the fish will be in the deeper channel to the left waiting for food to be washed over from the shallows,so cast across the current and drift your fly over.
Good luck

I'm just snoopin' on someone else's thread - but thanks, Bassfly, for sharing that.

I might just have to give that a go - I've seen at very close quarters how the tide runs through there (like a train on steroids!) so your advice to be cautious definitely needs to be heeded.

Cheers
