Hi there everyone
I am pritty new to sea fishing done it on off for about 2 years but i was lucky if i went like 4 times per year so am still new to it. Latley i have found myself with more time on my hands and i have desided to abandon football though injury and i am now right back to fishing which is my now favorite pass time.
I would basically like any good pointers you can give me, which rigs make best catches for certain fish ,good places to fish the place am fishing currently is horden beach, blackhall rocks etc. Unforunatly i havnt caught any thing in three sessions can any one drop me some advice to help a novice.
Many thanks and thanks again for reading.
Jamie. |

Hi Jamie, A warm welcome to the forum mate. Many of the local lads to you go fishing on a regular basis and would only be to pleased to go out with you and point you in the right direction.
Ther's nowt like fist hand experience and to explain rigs and knots I find dificut to explain on the forum.
Lads that are near you will show you fist hand how to make rigs ect and good bait pesentation.. Good luck mate
Cheers

My scratching rig comprises of a running ledger with a 2 hook flapper above this.
I tend to use this when fishing an unfamiliar venue.
Cheers

Again not from the area but would suggest a visit to some of the area's respected tackle shops, as there are so many options depending on what fish your hunting, the ground your fishing over, the bait you using etc |

Depends on location, but I tend to use a 3 Hook Flapper Rig 90% of the time with plenty of small 5mm beads as attractors. |

if ya fishing blackhall area mate it is mostly rough ground, so you need to be using pulley rigs with rotten bottoms, on the horden beach area, you could us, 2 hook flappers, up and over, or 1 up 1 down rigs,
best baits for those areas are peeler crab, mussel, squid and lug worm |

if ya just want to target flatfish like dabs, flounders plaice etc, try 2 hook flappers baited with ragworm/lugworm, peeler crab or tipped off with a small bit of mackerell |

try adding luminous beads, sequins and metalic blades to ya rigs for flatties, also try using a lighter weight than normal ( to allow it to move around on the sea bed, flatties are inquisitive fish) also try using longer snoods. Also dont cast too far, flatties are normally found within 20-40 yards from the shoreline, sometimes even within 10 yards, also dont use a big bait, try size 1 or 2 hooks NOT 1.0 or 2.0 too big |
