Hi I live in Essex and so this is where I will mostly fish (near southend). I have looked everwhere and cannot find a single reference to sole being caught in essex. Do we offend them?
I know the likes of Dover can hold them. Anyone know of other near-ish locations for Sole?
Thanks |

The Walton beaches hold sole, particularly around the pier and the coastguard's station. You need to fish close in over the top of the tide and in the dark. You need to fish over the top because the beaches are very shallow. Ragworm is the best bait and you need small hooks, size 2 or size 4 should do. Sole are being caught NOW! Don't wander too far away from your rods just in case a large bass picks up your bait and disappears with your gear! I'm going to the pier with a couple of mates Saturday night as we can only fish the tide down and over low water. I will be very surprised if we don't have a few soles as we have caught them on our last four trips. Hope my reply has been helpful.

High tide is about 5 o'clock and we will fish the whole of the outgoing tide until low water at about 11 o'clock. We will carry on fishing to get the first couple of hours of the incoming tide as this can be a productive time on the pier.

PS Maybe we'll get together for a fish sometime as we seem to want to fish the same areas.... |

hi gingerangler,it was this time last year my mate cought his sole over at canvey, they only seem to hang about at one spot, how to get there, park in the normal car park ,not the caravan park, go up the grass hill and go right, walk along the wall, its about the 3rd set of steps that the spot is, if you look on top of the wall,it is marked with spray paint e6,at low tide you will see a little rock jetty going out in to the water, fish the right hand side of it, thats where they are dont cast out that far, long flow trace, lugworm, worked for him,
ps, am up for fishing get together, i have fished alot of spots in southend now,i only have one year of fishing under my belt, but have had a lot of tips from the best in the area,my mate and i were out fishing in southend and have fished with paul kerry, from sea angler magazine,
if your up for it let me know, daiwa, |

Watch it Concrete-We all know Mrs Concrete looks in once in a while. Mrs DuncBooth says shes watching too and is really starting to think that a fishing widows site would be good! If they can get Mrs gingerangler to join he might get out more. Anyway, leave the poor boy alone! LOL |

Well he does call himself GINGERangler. Rest assured I only bat for the right side. Mrs concrete is finding this all rather funny. Incidently Mrs concrete has come home with a new toilet seat covered in pictures of fish. Maybe I'm getting her converted  .
concrete.
It will be a cold day in hell before I get converted!! And, anyway, on an evening when my husband doesn't catch the 'big one' (or even a little one!) he can come home and feel all nice and cosy on the throne covered with fish     .
