One or two reports of them snapping have been confirmed but Sonik will replace this with no charge to you. Might have been a rogue batch, slipped through quality control perhaps? For every bad report there are hundreds of satisfied customers too.
I have an SK3 and have been impressed with it, lovely light rod, casts well with great bite detection. I bought at after a fishing buddy who is far more experienced than I am and a self confessed 'tackle tart' let me try one of his out (he uses a pair). I'd recommend it as a good mid-range clean ground rod. We both use them with abu 6500s, makes a great combo. |

Yes i know what you mean, Some forums are so funny, One will say a product is great, The other says it's pants and so forth, It's like watching a tennis match.
Could well be a bad batch, Hopefully mine is from a good batch but i guess only time will tell. |

I'm afraid I have heard of too many busting, it seems that they are OK when used by those who do "overhead thump" casting but putting a bit of pressure on with a power cast of some description is dodgy. Bearing in mind the asking price I would rather have a Shakespeare Salt or one of my Fireflies. I know that they will take a good wack ( I do airlialised OTG for distance casting). |

I don`t think its just a case of a bad batch , if it is a light blank of any make it means that the blank walls are thin and thin carbon fibre needs to be in perfect condition to be strong. A drop on the shingle , a knock in the car , even a deep scratch from a hook or grip wire will do it.
The lightness comes at the price , the rod is more fragile.
If you manage to pop three of them you can use the bits to make a lightweight tripod to hold up a proper strength fibre-glass rod |

Yeah but what about all the good comments. I bet i could go on a forum and find a load of anglers who had their Zipplex snap on the cast at some stage, New items always come with negativity, Check out the Canon 5D mk2 DSLR camera, I have one and it has never let me down and is brilliant. Wouldn't think so according to some forums though!!!!!!! |

Yea maybe but there is a difference, zziplex have been around for years, these rods are a fairly new brand I believe?
Its quite rare for sea fishing rods to snap and to be honest I haven't ever heard of rods snapping in this forum.
So that could be cause for concern as we have had over a million posts
Are these rods up to power casting technics??
Anyway lets hope the negativity around is just down to a bad batch
cheers

Well i only want to punch a lugworm out around 100 yards max and catch a few codling from my local beach so it should be ok. I don't think Paul Kerry needs to s**t himself just yet. Will be fishing Aldeburgh this coming tues so will report back over the next few weeks on this horrible snap prone carbon junk rod |

My rod for boat congering is made from an ancient Paul Kerry tournament rod which snapped halfway up the butt section while casting (not by me i`m not that good ) which proves you can even snap the heaviest rods giving them too much welly. |

Alright mate i have a sonik sk3 with a while now and i've had no problems with it in terms of casting so far i usually cast otg using a fair bit of power(for me anyway)when going for distance and as i said no problems the only gripe i have is that the sliding reel seat is not great and dosent stay in position as firmly as you'd like other than that no complaints |
