fished the pier from 11am until 5pm, using rag, squid and mackerel on a 3 hook flapper rig.

some tidy fishing until high tide, then it went dead quiet. atleast i didnt blank, 14 pin whiting (no keppers angry ), 1 doggie and 2 sand dabs. overall, not a bad day out. disgusting though with the amount of litter and rubbish the people leave towards the end of the pier.

hoping to go out over easter holidays, any ideas where to go and what to fish for?

thats why i dont fish them.

ps.theres rhosilli ledges to fish at easter

goodluck where ever you venture

It's a damn shame that people still don't respect their local marks, as this could lead to the local Council stopping us fishing there.
I would like to post a local council rep on the West Pier one day, just to check who leaves litter, and when they are caught, give them a damn good bitch-slap !!!
Lets see if they do it next time ???

it belongs to the abp so the council wouldnt go there, but if the abp put someone there, no one would go because you need a license. i've spoke to a load of people there over the years and never met one with a license.

Thats the reason they are tips, because they dont charge.

id rather pay 3quid and enjoy the fishing than stand in p*** and rubbish for nowt.

not saying piers and breakwaters are the only places, cardiff foreshore is another tip and all the way down the peat ledges.

it wont be long and bans will be imposed everywhere.

saying that with the lack of fish the bums may not bother again after this winter.

once they finish the path onto the pier i think it will change and permits will be a must, might be a good thing in one way its a good venue to fish, but if permits are brought in night fishing will stop,

the path is owned by the people doing the flats. and the abp office that own the west pier are shut at night, theres probably security in the docks but i doubt they are abp and they probably wont bother crossing the water. i got a form here for a short arm license and west pier is on there but it is crossed out, i think they have just left it , it serves no purpose to them.
