I would appreciate it if you could name your top lures so i can give it a bash myself.
Also what rod would you reccomend for lure fishing?
I have read that the mike ladle ones from veals are good.
cheers

As requested my own personal top choice of lures ,
SURFACE LURES, all maria chase [awesome] lucky craft sammy [ both expensive so choose wisely but worth the money ], lucky "ghost minnow" bass buster [mackeral and whiting/pout colours work well] "yo-zuri" poppers [take a couple of sizes/weights] #### see below for this
SUB SURFACE LURES ,maria chase bw again like most of these lures they are awesome at making a bass/pollack nail it hard and the hooks must be looked after as they can sometimes go blunt, check regularly, splitting jacks take a few different colours some work in bright sunshine and some dont trial and error im afraid.
DIVING , rapala pick one cos i like them all ,and you MUST carry a few of the classic dexter wedges, old they may be but they do work ,abu toby again classic but worth carrying a few with you ####### rubber/jelly sandeel imitations making a "rig" for these is below, shads work in the deeper water but dont rely on them ,most deep diving lures work but try to know the area that you are fishing ,snags below the surface cost lures time after time ,i try to look at an area before i fish it .
RODS the choice really is yours ,mike ladle rods are at the mo the best rods around but i find them a bit expensive for my liking,go to your local tackle shop and ask and keep asking questions dont be afraid if they keep giving you stupid looks or cant answer them walk away with your hard earned cash ,i have an 10 ft spinning rod which cost me £45 and has proved a worth while buy and have landed some nice bass pollack with it
and mackeral in the summer, as for reels that again is personal choice,go to the tackle shop and try out a few, dont go for some thing that looks flash you want it to do a job so find the right one for you AND the area that you fish expensive doesnt mean it will catch more, stick to your budget and the most important piece of equipment you will need is YOU if you dont enjoy lure plug or spinning dont go
hope this may help some of you ,tight lines |

| thanks for the reply ric, like i said at the begining "what you read is my own personal choice" and it is meant as a quide,as for going into a shop like the one pictured why not,it will not cost ne thing for advice ,that was the whole point of this sticky so feel free to add what you want just dont dismiss other peoples opinions or their choices . |

wouldnt dream of denying people john, or dismiss your view ( if you read the first part, it says ' hope you dont mind me adding a bit here john'), just making them aware that they might face people who will think of trying to tell them anything to make a sale. There are quite a few shops that do this ( not saying that of the shop pictured by any means).
Ive been through the 'buy cos it looks good' thing by spending !100 on lures for pike fishing that wouldnt catch a tree, nevermind a fish !
I am only going along the lines of what ive been shown by very good pike and bass lure fishermen. A lot of people may think im talking rubbish, which is fine, i was only trying to give an alternative view.
I wont post anything like this again though as i am not happy of the thought of upsetting anyone.
