Hello I am new to Sea fishing only been once. I am a keen coarse fishermen but I am planning to go Scarborough in mid March & would like to know what type of fishing is there availble from the piers. Best baits & methods ledgering, spinners for codling etc. Please can anyone advise on baits (I don't like using ragworms) & tackle required? Also I will be hiring the tackle from a local tackle shop
Thank you Daiwa39 |

| The best thing I can suggest mate is have a search in google and see what you get. I would have helped you but have never fished there before however, if I do find any info I will let you know. |

| I have never fished Scarborough myself but the baits used are much of a m,uchness around the country. If you don't like using ragworm you could try lugworm. Ugly looking things but don't have any nippers. Tipped with squid is a very good general bait. Peeler crab is also a good bait for the cod but is quite expensive. I always recommend taking some mackrel along. If you aren't getting much with the other baits, mackrel can prove invaluable. Whities probably prefer this more than anything else although my mate did catch a 6lb 7 oz cod from up our way yesterday on a mackrel strip. These baits should see you right. Rigs - when not knowing what baits to use I normally use a two hook flapper with two different baits to see which one is attracting the fish. You could then move to a pennel with larger baits if you want bigger fish. If the ground is snaggy then I recommend a pulley rig. The bites seem to show a little less but if you get the biggy you have a chance of it lifting your weight before you strike, therefore not getting snagged. Hope this helps. |

Hi mate,
unfortunatelty in over 20 years of sea fishing i've never made it to this venue yet so i cant really give a personal view.
Best thing i can suggest is to go onto google and look up fishing shops in the area and either give them a call or drop them an e-mail. Failing that have a look in the tackle shop directory in the back of total sea fishing or sea angler and speak to them that way. Local knowlege is the best mate. Hope this helps. |
