Having seen the mackerel and bass boiling the water on summer evenings off Hove beach, and checking out some fishy looking areas over the weedy chalk beds under the cliffs, I've decided to get my fly rod out and dedicate 2007 to go for wild fish on light tackle.
If any of you guys out there are considering the same sort of tactics, then get in touch and share the experience. |

Fly-fishing in the sea! Stupid idea!
Just don't get notions of Mullet on the fly without a prescription of Prozac |

Yeah you will never catch any bass on the fly!
great pics! I have had a few mackerel on the fly. I just choose stupid times to try for the bass. Usually in a force 8! |

Not in an 8, but a good force 6. The best of 20 that night.
Macks are good fun too!

| For bass 20 yards is often more productive than 200 yards, so fly fishing is a viable technique. Having said that, if you're casting a fly line into the teeth of a gale then even 2 yards can sometimes feel like a struggle! |
