Daiwa Millionaire 7HT Reel

Is the Daiwa Millionaire 7HT Reel worth buying for 79.99??

im just wondering has anyone got this reel because im thinking of getting it beacause im thinking of getting a multiplier, and this seems to be at a good price.

Also is this a good casting reel (easy to use??).

great reel not bad price and easy to use ,find a field to practise with it first so you can"dial" it in to suit your fishing style big grin

its a litle round thing on the side set from 0-9 and what it does is >>>>> when the weight hits the water it can stop the spool so it dont over run and you dont tangle , best way to do this is once a weight is on the line , hold the rod high and click the freespool button and let go with ya thumb once the weight hits the ground you want to set the dial so the weight hits and the spool stops.

shop around a little- if you're buying it online spottydog are doing them for £74.99- the 7HT is a classic and very good multiplier-though I prefer the 7HT Turbo which they're doing for £104.99. dont forget to make sure the break blocks are fitted before you cast it.

I also remove the cosmetic gold side plate as salt can build up underneath it- my mate laughs at me for doing this but hey ho

does anyone know much about the millionere 6h multi?? i just got a 2nd hand one from ebay and got a guy who fixes reels to look at it. he hadnt seen one before but said it looked like a really good reel. he couldnt believe i only paid 50euro for it. the 7h is for sale in his shop for 170euro.....
ive never used a multi before and fairly new to fishing so any info/tips would be appreciated.

Had one of those and a 6RM as well, biggest probem i had with them was corrosion around the two studs that hold the reel seat to the cage, whatever i did i could'nt stop it, in the end both reels became unusable apart from that they were ok,good for clean-medium ground,and if u pump and retrive any large fish they will cope ok,retrive a bit slow though, had codling to 6lb off the beach when i had them.Also what i discovered when i had them was that Daiwa did'nt charge for spare parts,screws etc which then was a bonus, cant tell u if they still do that but it might be worth your while writing to them.If i can think of anything else i'll post it 4 u, before i forget the one thing i used to do with a new multi was to set the frreespool tenson so that the weight stopped just as it hit the ground this gave the added bonus of no overruns while getting used to the reel could be useful when u first go out on the grass for practise.Just rememberd,6RM had bronze Bushes for the spool and the 6HM had ball bearings.

if i was you dont set your dial becasue need quite alot of brake to do that which kills you distance, so just before the weight hits the water put your thumb on the spool to brake it. and at night you just last to the spool when it slows right down then brake it. i have a millionair 7ht and i dont use any brake.

I have just got a 7ht and when I cast hard it seems to over run at the start of my cast and then crack's off???

Should I have the brake on on the cast or just take it easy????

2 reaasons come to mind

If it has a levelwind then the leveleind could be going in the opposit to the line lay
To cure this wrap all the line on a spare empty spool or toilet roll and then rewind it all back on the reel or the line has been wound on the reel bunched up and you will have to cure it the same way. Hope this helps keith big grin
