Sea license no. Why should we pay for our hobby?
More patrols, easier convictions and tighter laws is what we need.
People get away with littering, yet about a year ago a mother got fined 250 quid i think it was coz her baby dropped a quaver crisp.

If they fine people for that then why arent they fining those littering our fishing loactions? It pathetic

You say licences is maybe the way forward but howthey going to regulate it they have a hard enough time regulating the controls they already have in place. The marks I usually fish in Plymouth are generally kept clean but this is down to us regular anglers tying old carrier bags to the railings and then putting our rubbish into them. The local council occasionally put one of their bags there but are happy to take our full carriers........Colin

I reckon that over the last few years it really has become socially unacceptable for people to drop litter in the streets, perhaps helped by people being prosecuted/on-the-spot fines for minor littering offences and a better provision/emptying of bins.

Perhaps a solution would be to make the local councils more responsible for maintaining their shoreline to an acceptable standard. For instance it would perhaps be easy for them to work with local tackle shops to get codes of conduct on carrier bags as suggested earlier, and put adequate bins and signs up near the shore advising visitors how it must be treated. And prosecute the idiots who ruin things for other people - I don't see why dumping dead fish/tackle/beer cans shouldn't get an on the spot fine just the same as it would in a town centre.

Worst thing of this nature that I've ever seen is fishing through the night ,at a location I won't name, on my own, when at about 7am the sea gradually became covered in carrier bags. Very puzzling I thought, until I saw the man (employed by the local tackle shop/ticket seller for the location) who was supposed to be emptying the black bags that they tie up on the railings. I wish that I had seen him do it but I think that he just went along and dumped the whole lot into the sea. Could have been an accident so against my better judgement I didn't take it any further

This argument will go on and on and on. The sport is costly enough without imposing more costs.

Work it out for yourselves.

Fuel to get to the venue
rigs
line hooks
sinkers
rods
reels
tripod
bait
pier fees

AND FOR THE BOAT OWNER more costs
fuel for the boat
registration fees
launching fees
extra fuel towing it

Doesn't make pretty reading does it?

If they want to introduce rod licences then for Christ sake put something back into the sport because that what it is A Sport

Other sports get backing, grants ect
What do we get? I'll tell you RIPPED OFF! angry angry angry angry angry angry angry angry angryangry angry angry angry

I apologise to the members for sounding a grumpy old man but enough is enough.
Now that I have got that off my chest I can put a smile back on my face and get on with the rest of my life big grin big grin big grin big grin big grin big grin big grin big grin
