Hi andy, the reel looks ideal and the specs are impressive, the only worry that I have is the line capacity. If your casting is not all that great then fine, but if you are a good caster then it doesn't leave much line left if you hook int a big fish and it runs. I think you can do better with something like a DAM vsi 465 or a Lemax GY 9000 for approx the same price. Hope this helps. keith |

thanks rabbi i can always rely on you for a reply
The problem is i can only buy from this website http://www.jims.org.uk/fishing/fixed-spool-reels-fd.htm as i am getting a replacement for the shakespear that i have had antireverse problems with, at the moment i am unable to cast more than 70- 80m so i think this reel will be okay what do you think? i am hoping to learn to cast further though.
Thanks andy |

As I said mate the specs look good and for the price seems like a fair deal. Looks like your casting is about par with mine. Go for it mate. Let me know how you get on. Cheers keith |

Nex time I see you I'll give you some gear for him. Let me know what kind of setup he uses. Failing that if any of your local lads will be on the Holyhead meet I'll give it to them to pass on. What did you have surgery on? If its personal dont answer. Cheers keith |

thanks keith
just noticed that on the first webpage i posted the line capacity is 180m of 15lb line and on the web page from which i am atually going to buy fromhttp://www.jims.org.uk/images/fishing/force700.htm the line capacity is 340yds of 14lb line so now im confused becuase as you said 180m isn't alot of line for beachcasting. I sopose im unlikely to start casting over 100m just like that so |

I have a few secondhand reels that would suit your purpose and I will be taking them on the Holyhead meet if you are attending. keith |

Should mind me own business really but you may want to have a look at the Diawas they have on this site: http://www.reelsndeals.com/acatalog/Online_Catalogue_Daiwa_Match_Reels_632.html
I bought one of the BF5500's for £20 a few months back and I am very pleased with it so far - very smooth and I like the fact that the spool rim is a sort of hard rubber so it doesn't corrode. Also the spool skirt is nice and deep so the line does not get trapped underneath.... these reels with only a shalloe spool skirt can be a source of endless trouble especially at night when you can't always see clearly what you are doing. I have two mates with shallow skirts on their spools and they both suffer from this problem which you don't get with the better Okumas and that Diawa mentioned above. Hope this helps. |

thanks keith but holyhead is a bit far for me,
Eccles thanks for the info, but i am only limited to one website as i am getting a refund on a damaged reel.
I was just looking at a Shakespeare Salt Surf Reel http://www.jims.org.uk/images/fishing/2208sasurf0.htm what do you think?
Thanks Andy |

I would go for the smaller of the two reels mate - line capacity is more than adequate and I think the larger one might be bit heavy. Although personally I still think those spool skirts are a not quite deep enough. |
