I have been sea fishing for around 20 years and never used a multiplier happy I am now looking to convert and was wondering how do you tell the difference between a boat and a sea fishing multiplier?

I have looked at a lot of reels on websites but they dont seem to make it clear, also what sort of reel would you recommend for a beginner in the world of multipliers.

Thanks in advance.

Beach multipliers have smaller spool capacities and have less cranking power generally and as a result can cast further - especially the ones without levelwinds - as you will find on most boat reels.

A reel that is a 6500 series or Penn 525 is for beach - the bigger 7000 series are for boat. I wouldn't recommend a boat reel for the beach and vice versa.

Any particular reason for saying go for the 20 instead of the 30 as they are the same price?

I think your getting confused with ABU - the Okuma is the LS (LevelWind Series).

Why bother with a multipler - they take for ever to reel in and you get birdsnest tangles which leave you fiddling about on the beach for hours instead of fishing. This will probably start a rucus but I believe in commonsense.

Don't blame you Keith, but I just don't care - I was always in trouble for being gobby at work so why change the habit of a lifetime LOL.

Kieran is 100% correct,
I have 2 Mg30-cs' for boat fishing,non-levelwind......the 20 is the smaller
version ideal for the shore, cracking reels for the money!
