Never heard of Aveley 'til I found it on Flashearth. OK mate so your an Essex boy in which case you need to get info from some of the blokes who do the Thames Estuary. Suggest you put Thames Estuary in your request post and I expect about six of them will answer.

i was thinking on taking the family out and heading south, i was in Hastings on sat and took the long way home along the coast to Dover and then up so distance is not a issue. i can go along the estuary during the week without them

In which case Brighton Marina and Dungeness often fish well by all accounts.

If you going to brighton this week end it may pay to set off very early as it will be heaving you may be better off trying the East arm of the marina, which is a bit of a hike with wife and kids in tow but normally not so busy - suggest you drop them off at the pier or shops. Good luck anyway.
