Hi mate,

I would try using a rotton bottom link. Or you could try doing what the cornish do when rock fishing and use spark plugs so you keep the cost down on tackle loss.

the only time i have and would use Berkley baits is out on the boat over the wrecks. They are quite good for the cod and pollack.
Wouldn't use them from the beach though
